AFL Finals Week 2

Week one of the Finals was almost as one sided as you will see in an AFL finals series, 3 games where decided by a decent margin while the highlight was West Coasts thrilling after the siren goal against the Power. We learnt a couple things from week one, the Tigers are the real deal and have their sights firmly on a grandfinal position, while the Swans are becoming an almost unstoppable force. The Cats Season looks to be over out in straight sets unless they can pull out a small miracle. The Giants look cooked, very flat and will need a big turn around and fast if they are going to right their season.

Geelong v Sydney

How do you stop the Swans? They just look unstoppable right now. Their guns are firing and the fringe are looking very strong. The Cats will be very deflated after last weeks big loss to the Tigers and know they have it all against them, they will need career best games from Danger and Selwood to try to compete with the Swans hard running and will need a big lift for all their forwards. It’s hard to see how the Cats will score enough against a Swans defence that has not let in over 85 points in months. You know the Swans midfield will grind it out all day long and give their forwards plenty of opportunities. The rain has been strong in Melbourne and give the Cats an extra glimmer of hope.
Predict Sydney win 31 points

GWS v West Coast

Can the Giants stop the rot and fast, they have only won 4 of their past 10 games plus two draws, the Eagles on the other hand have hit their straps at the right time and win 3 of their last 4 included a win over the highly fancied crows and the thrilling after the siren win over the Power last week.  Make no mistakes Giants are a good side they have winners all over the ground but have been hit with a couple extra injuries last week. They seem to be off the boil and have left the door wide open for the Eagles. The Eagles in reality won about 30 minutes of footy last week and it was enough to get the win, the have experience all over the ground and it may give them an edge especially if they can get a fast start and put doubt in the Giants mind. Neither side will die wondering expect a high scoring highly skilled affair.
