AFL Preliminary Finals

AFL Preliminary Finals
The semi finals are done and dusted and both games where disappointing in the results with blowouts in both games. Most surprisingly was the Swans who barely fired a shot against the Cats. From the opening bounce the Cats controlled the game and ran out 10 goal winners. The Giants found the spark they needed and took the tired looking Eagles apart and looked to be the team that most believe they can be. The small forward set up with Cameron missing worked well and maybe it’s time the Giants consider trading one of their big forwards.
The Preliminary finals look to be a promoters dream, Dangerfield and the Cats up against his old side the Crows and Brett Deledio up against the Tigers. It should be a couple of instant classics the teams that finished top four all playing off for a shot in the Grand final.
Has the extra bye helped or hindered the Tigers and Crows, how will the Giants handle playing at the MCG with 90000 strong tiger army against them. No matter what the results there is some great stories that will come out of the next two weeks of footy.

Adelaide v Geelong

All Season the Crows have held onto their top two spot and have looked like marching through to the clubs third premiership. The Cats looked in big trouble after the Tigers belted them in the first week of finals but showed how good they can be tearing part the highly fancied Swans. The Cats master stroke was shifting Dangerfield forward against the Swans before moving him on the ball late to continue their drive. The Crows will be expecting something similar this week so the element of surprise is gone. Will Harry Taylor go back forward or stay in defence is another big question the Cats will need to answer as they try to break the fortress so the Crows.

The Crows are so solid across the ground and just keep teams from scoring and rebound as good as any team. The Crows midfield is elite with the Crouch brothers leading the way, the Crows forward line as powerful as it is still has a couple questions over it but if Tex gets into the game early it makes it easier for Betts and company to run wild. Expect a few fireworks early as both sides battle for control it will be intense finals footy worthy of a Grand final but the Crows at home should have the edge.

Richmond v GWS

Melbourne has waited a long time for the Tigers to make a Grand Final and it’s hard not to get caught up in all the excitement of the Tiger train. The will crown Dustin Martin a Brownlow Medalist on Monday night and it would be a real fairy tale for the Tigers to /then head to the Grand Final with that behind them also. The ‘Giants much like the Cats looked gone after the Crows dismantled them with ease but looked like the side we all expected in destroying the Eagles. It’s hard to trust that form a little after seeing how poor the Eagles and Power have been against quality opposition but it may have been just the tonic for the struggling Giants to give them the spur to go forward. It will be a new experience for the Giants playing in front of such a large hostile crowd at the MCG. The Tigers defence lead by Rance has been a standout all season and of course their midfield with Dustin Martin just never gives up. The Giants are matched well and seem to have the speed over the Tigers and would have in forwards if it wasn’t for the /Tigers Defence. So hard to split it’s going to take those few moments of magic by someone, Stevie J, Toby Greene, or Jack Riewoldt or Martin to take the game by the scruff of the neck and drag their team over the line. if the Giants can silence the big home crowd they may just stand a chance if the Tigers get any sort of momentum they will be hard to stop.
Let’s face it besides the few Giants fans who doesn’t want to see the Tigers get to the Grand final
