*UPDATE*

The New England Patriots lead 3-0 against the Los Angeles Rams at half-time of a scrappy Super Bowl LIII in Atlanta.

A 42-yard Stephen Gostkowski field goal towards the end of the first quarter gave the Patriots a slender lead in an attritional half dominated by defence at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium.

Patriots quarterback Tom Brady — chasing a sixth Super Bowl victory — threw an interception on his first attempted pass of the game but the New England defence smothered the Rams’ effectively throughout.

Brady had 160 yard on 15 passes made from 25 attempts but, fortunately for the Patriots, the Rams were unable to get anything going either.

Quarterback managed just 52 yards thrown in the first half, hitting 5 of 12.

It was the second lowest scoring first half in Superbowl history.
