Kyrie Irving explodes at Gordon Hayward after botched final play in Celtics’ loss to Magic

There’s some drama brewing in Boston, it seems.

A few days ago, when two players had to be separated during a time-out, there was good reason to play down the heated altercation as competitive teammates showing natural emotions.

Sunday’s (AEDT) incident was clearly different, and the team isn’t even trying to hide it.

Kyrie Irving lashed out at Gordon Hayward after the Celtics’ final shot didn’t fall in a 105-103 loss to the Orlando Magic.

Hayward inbounded the ball to Jayson Tatum for a tough mid-range jumper in the corner, but Irving clearly wanted his teammate to be patient and inbound the ball in a scenario that would put him in a position to score.

As soon as the final buzzer sounded, Irving went straight to Hayward to scold him for the decision, Here’s that incident:

It seemed clear that it wasn’t just an on-court outburst from Irving, too:

It was Aaron Gordon who led the way for the Magic in the win, finishing with 28 points and 12 rebounds, while Nikola Vucevic posted 16 points, 13 rebounds, and six assists of his own.

For the Celtics, Irving finished 25 points, five rebounds, and six assists in the loss.

Blake Griffin scored 44 points in his return to Staples Center for the first time against his old team — and the drama began before the game even tipped off.

Griffin’s Detroit Pistons beat the Los Angeles Clippers 109-104 to snap a four-game skid, and while the crowd welcomed their former star with open arms, the five-time All-Star didn’t have the same reaction for his former boss, Steve Ballmer.

Before the game, the Clippers owner walked toward Griffin during pre-game shootaround and extended his hand, but the forward snubbed the handshake and ran to the locker room.
