The Philadelphia 76ers’ new era begins today as Jimmy Butler makes his debut alongside Ben Simmons and Joel Embiid.
Butler was officially traded from Minnesota earlier this week, being swapped for Dario Saric, Robert Covington and Jerryd Bayless, and will make his first team start today against the Orlando Magic. Some have argued this gives the Sixers their own ‘big three’.
“In my opinion, we have three of the top 20 players in the NBA,” Philadelphia owner Josh Harris has said.
Philadelphia will run out a starting line-up of Butler, Simmons, Embiid, JJ Redick and Wilson Chandler, leaving 2017 No.1 pick Markelle Fultz to come off the bench.
The Sixers narrowly defeated Orlando at home 116-115 early this season but now end a three-game road trip with a second straight game in Florida. Philly has won three of its last four games, including Tuesday’s 124-114 victory at Miami.
Two games will be broadcast live on Foxtel today including New Orleans at Butler’s old side Minnesota, followed by LeBron James and the LA Lakers hosting high-flying Portland.
