THE Dragons are in free fall with James Graham and Matt Dufty having run-ins with fans and a cameraman after their brutal 38-0 loss to the Bulldogs.
Graham clashed with a cameraman who was trying to film an injured Jason Nightingale on the sidelines.
The team was also booed by angry Dragons’ fans both at half-time and full-time of the thrashing, and the players immediately reacted.
Graham had a fan throw his Dragons scarf at him and exchanged tense words walking into the tunnel.
Six million dollar man Ben Hunt also had to put up with a lot of vitriol from the home fans at Jubilee Oval, after another below par display.
Benched Dragons’ fullback Matt Dufty couldn’t hold back onTtwitter after the match, when he let fly at the fans who targeted players with boos and insults.
“Without being rude, they need to wake up to themselves,” Dufty said.
“We’ve made the finals. Instead of throwing criticism they could show us some support.
“We try not to focus on external noise but it’s hard not to when it’s your own fans.”
A video of an angry Dragons fan setting fire to their jersey also emerged on Instagram Sunday, with the caption “f***ing useless c***s”.
Dragons’ coach Paul McGregor was visibly shaken in the post match press conference.
“It’s shattering,” McGregor said.
Stand in skipper Tyson Frizell was also struggling to contain his emotions after the match
“It is very disappointing,” Tyson Frizell added.
“It’s hard to cop that from the fans.”
The Dragons sit in sixth position on the ladder heading into their final round clash with the Knights, with a home final still a real possibility.
However, having only won two of their past nine games, it is difficult to see them making an impact in September.
