Round 5 Saturday Preview

Saturdays games will start slow with what should be a couple one sides affairs but finish with a couple bangs with the Swans and Giants clash and the Kangaroos heading west to tackle the Dockers.
Western Bulldogs v Brisbane

Hoping the Lions can show some fight early on but I think the Dogs will far too polished from the opening bounce, the style of play will be all over the Lions and they won’t know what hit them. The Dogs have been a bit wasteful in front of goal and tend to have attacks from the flanks and pockets while the Lions tend to attack a bit more direct.

There is no real stand out for the Dogs at the moment and will be counting down the days for players to return, The Lions have Beams, Rockliff and Zorko winning plenty of it but need so much more from others. The Dogs have kicked some big scores against the Lions in recent outings and they will be desperate for some much needed percentage.
Predict Western Bulldogs win 50 points
Bet tips Lions under 9.5 behinds $2.10

Adelaide v Gold Coast

While the Suns have showed some good signs in three of the four games so far this season, the results are not to be taken out of context they have beaten two of the other bottom couple sides in Hawks and Blues and got belted by the Giants one of the leagues supreme teams. They come up against one of the other supreme teams here in the Crows who have been devastating so far this year, and would expect nothing less than another big win here. The Crows will not allow Lynch and the rest of the forward line any breathing space they play such a good team defence it’s hard to see anyone scoring heavily enough against the to win and the forward line is just all class with Betts and Walker both kicking multiple goals each week. Ablett seems to be flying again but he won’t be able to carry the team agains this Crows outfit and as the game goes on the Crows will be relentless and run away with the victory.
Predict Adelaide win 58 points
Bet tips Crows -27.5 $1.90 Crows wire to wire $1.90 Crows under 14.5 behinds $1.75

Sydney v GWS

Any other time this would probably get match of the round billing but with the Swans struggling without a win and the Giants firing on all cylinders it’s a bit of a miss match.

The small SCG ground will make it a little tougher for the Giants who are yet to taste victory at the SCG but they are one step closer here. The Giants lead the league in clearances and this is vital to beating a hardened Swans midfield who have a slight edge over the Giants in the middle.

It is around the ground where the Giants will get the upper hand, they have such a more evenness about them, they don’t rely on those 3 or 4 players to have dominant games to keep them in it or drag the, over the line.

The twin towers of Cameron and Patton will cause a lot of headaches for the Swans especially when you throw in Greene the Giants have the most potent of forward lines only matched by the Crows.
Predict GWS win by 35 points
Bet tips GWS -11.5 $1.91

North Melbourne v Fremantle

Have the Kangaroo’s run out of fight as the Dockers are finding the heart and run it needs. The injection of youth seems to have done the Dockers good and while the win against the Dogs was good I was more impressed by the fighting last minute victory over the Demons, it showed a huge amount of character.

The poor Roo’s knew this season was going to be tough you don’t lose the calibre of players they did and not have some struggles but I think they would be disappointed that they remain winless so far, they have had a couple opportunities go begging.

The Roo’s have struggled at domain only winning 1 of the past 6 games there and with the Docker resurgence alive and well they will again struggle to win this one if they Dockers can continue to play the way they have. You have to go back all the way to 1972 for the last time the Roo’s started a season with 5 straight losses.

Think the game will be close but the Dockers will get the job done.
Predict Freemantle win by 12 points
Bet tips Dockers 1-39 $2.10
